Jerry Wieslander

Frank Gerald Wieslander, 68, died Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. The funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. in Des Moines, with burial at Mitchellville Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014 at the funeral home.

Jerry was born August 2, 1945 to Louise and Lloyd Wieslander in Des Moines. He grew up and spent most of his life in the Mitchellville area. Jerry attended Drake University where he played football and graduated from Drake Law School. He was a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers as well as the Iowa State Bar Association. When his children were growing up, he enjoyed coaching Little League baseball and flag football. He loved helping people through his career as an attorney.

Jerry is survived by his children: Shane (Julie) Wieslander, and Megan (Danny Rasure) Wieslander; his grandchildren who he adored: Ella Wieslander and Edward Rasure; his siblings: David (Connie) Wieslander, Ed (Diana) Wieslander, and Mina (Denny) Mitchell; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his niece, Brandy.
