Anna (Pinegar) Frey was born January 12, 1919 in Spring Hill, Iowa to Alfred and Myrtle (Pearce) Pinegar. She was employed by Armstrong Tire & Rubber and the Des Moines School District in food services. Anna was a member of Chesterfield Christian Church and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed embroidery and puzzles and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
Anna passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Altoona Nursing and Rehab at the age of 95.
She is survived by her children: Richard Jones, JoAnn Peltier, Linda Speed, and Carol Ann Hankins (Fred), all of Des Moines; sisters, Wanda Olson of Des Moines and Myrtle “Tiny” Blake of Lamoni; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings.
Services will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 3, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, with burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Pleasant Hill.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice in appreciation of their wonderful care of Anna.

I REMEMBER WHEN LINDA AND I WERE YOUNG TEEN AGERS AND WE WERE ALWAYS AT YOUR HOUSE AND UNDER FOOT BUT YOU NEVER SEEMED TO MIND AND ALWAYS HAD A SMILE FOR US AND A FUNNY COMMENT HERE AND THERE. REST IN PEACE FINE LADY.

Sorry for your loss. I enjoyed taking care of your mother when I worked on the weekends at Altoona Nsg and Rehab. She always would give me a smile!!

She was not only my great-aunt but also a lunch lady at my elementary school. It was a comfort to have a loving relative near at hand every day and she made terrific apple crisp. I liked her more every time I saw her and will miss her now.

I remember spending some time with Carol Ann one year when I came back to Iowa. I also remember Anna making me a birthday cake and sending it home with me on the plane. What a sweet woman she was. I'm glad you had many years to enjoy her.
