Steve Walker, 69, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center.

Jack Steven Walker was born November 15, 1944 in Tampa, Florida to Jack and Marjorie Walker. He attended Roosevelt High School and Grand View College. Steve served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a highly skilled carpenter and worked for Paulson & Sons for over 50 years. He was very genuine and loyal, honest as the day is long. Steve was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a practical joker with a great sense of humor. Steve also loved to dance.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Jo Ann; children, Janice (Jim) Redmond, Joan (Hayes) Kiser, Jackie DeMaria, Jo Walker and John Walker; sister, Paula (Louis) Riccelli; grandchildren, Janna, Jamie, Betsy, Mia, Josie, Nico, Alyssa and Nina; dog, Molly; and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father, Don Richey.

The family will greet friends Monday, February 3, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a memorial service at 12 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street

Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa or the American Cancer Society in loving memory of Steve.
