Jacqueline “Jackie” Kowalski, 76, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Iowa Methodist, surrounded by her loving family.

Jackie was born November 30, 1937 in Columbus, Ohio to Alice (Enright) and Harry Betts. She retired after 33+ years of dedicated service from the advertising department at Meredith Corporation. She loved to travel, shop, play cards and spend time with her family and friends. She had a big heart and was her family’s rock and the glue that held them together. Jackie had a positive attitude and was an inspiration to many. She was always concerned and asked about others right up to the very end of her life. Jackie would do anything for anyone and will continue to be looked up to. She will truly be missed.

Jackie is survived by her children, Renae (Rick) Mabie, Tim Brown and Valerie (Mike) Krafka; step-children, Susan (Neil) Stockel, Robert Jr. (Kim) Kowalski, James (Geryl) Kowalski, Mary (Vito) Racanelli, Roxy Garton and Terri Scott; grandchildren, Trisha (Pat) McDonald, Kayla (Sean) Donavan, Adam (Sarah) Brown, Bobby VanZee, Cassy (Brandon) Johnson, Tyler Brown, Jordan Krafka, David (Jackie) Stockel, Chris Stockel, Sabrina Stockel, Victoria, Rachel and Lucas Kowalski, Tyler and Hailee Kowalski and Katherine Racanelli; eleven great-grandchildren; brother, Billy (Micki) Betts; and numerous nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kowalski; her son, Jim Brown and her sister, Patricia Bryan.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
