Howard Sorter, Jr.

Howard Sorter, Jr., 80, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014. He was born December 12, 1933 to Howard and Florence Sorter in Des Moines.

Howard retired from Ford and also worked as an electrician for many years. He enjoyed fishing and going to Prairie Meadows.

Howard is survived by his children, David (Amy) Sorter, Gary (Darla) Sorter, Jerry (Carmen) Sorter, Randy Sorter, Mark (LuAnn) Sorter, and Debbie Butler; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Blair (Margaret) Porter; sister, JoAnn McGlenn; aunt, Tillie Rainy; and a host of other family and beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by parents; wife, Mary Lou in 1996.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
