Robert L. Willson, 64, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 22, 2014.

Bob was born February 19, 1949 in Des Moines to George and Ellen (Ruvoldt) Willson. He was an East High graduate, class of ’67 and owned and operated Willson Auto Body.

Bob’s life revolved around family. He loved going out to dinner and taking road trips with his children. Bob and his son, Blake raised coursing greyhounds and traveled across the country entering them in field trials. Bob could fix anything. He loved to tinker and build and was an accomplished leather worker. He was always on the lookout for a good deal and enjoyed bartering and going to garage sales and flea markets. He owned a bar for a while and liked good old classic rock and roll music. He could name any tune in three words and loved singing along with the radio, especially the Beach Boys.

Bob is survived by his children: Tammy, Bobby (Amy), Blake (Julie), Brad (Jenny), Jeremiah, Brandie, and Brooke (Luis); grandchildren: Robert III, Sheena, Blade, Dakota, Bentley, and one on the way; great-granddaughter, Sophia; and his siblings, Larry Grady and Cheryl Twiss.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Loretta, Pat, and Karen.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, January 27, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street with burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Pleasant Hill. There will be a visitation for two hours prior to the service, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
