Luther Robinson

On January 20, 2014, Luther Allen Robinson, age 85, went home to be with our heavenly Father. He was born November 26, 1928 in Des Moines, Iowa to Thomas and Kate (Jeffries) Robinson. He was married to JoAnn (Coiner) Robinson on December 25, 1950 and they lived on their farm in Runnells, Iowa for 61 years.

Luther was a proud Army Veteran who faithfully served his country during the Korean War. He played basketball in high school and enjoyed all sports, especially cheering on his Hawkeyes and SE Polk Rams. Luther enjoyed spending time with his family and taking care of his three dogs. He always looked forward to Sunday afternoon family gatherings. One of his favorite things to do was take lunch out to his family working in the field during harvest time.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Susan (Fred) Fredregill of Carlisle, Iowa, Honey (Lester) Grosc of Mitchellville, Iowa, Paul (Martha) Robinson of Runnells, Iowa, Jo (Ben) Thannikotu of Ontario, Canada, Autumn (Ron) McGrean of Altoona and January (Jim) Kim of Johnston, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and many wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, JoAnn Robinson; daughter, April Robinson and his parents.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, Altoona, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Powers-Warren Cemetery.
