Sandra Crawford

Sandra K Crawford, 64, of West Des Moines, Iowa, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Visitation will be Friday, January 24, 2014, from 5 to 8 pm, at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, with a Memorial Service Saturday, January 25, 2014, at 12:00 pm.

Sandy was born Sandra K Aschim, to Tillman and Lois Aschim in Frankville, Iowa, along with her four sisters Jan, Millie, (Dave), Rose, (Steve), and Nancy, (Mark). Her parents divorced and both remarried. Sandy was lucky enough to have been given a wonderful Step-Mom Ella and Step Dad Bob, and their family grew with brother Rod, (Janet), and Sister Laura. Sandy spent most of her childhood in Marshalltown, and then graduated from Postville High School.

After graduation she moved back to Marshalltown where she met and married Jerry Underwood and started a family, having Michael (Diane), Tina (Rich), and Tim.

She enjoyed raising her children, going to their sports and activities. She was very involved in her community, working at Dahl’s grocery store and working at Urbandale High School where she really enjoyed the students and staff.

Later in life she met her soul mate Dale Crawford. Adding to her life stepson Mike (Kellie). Sandy and Dale enjoyed life, traveling, going to Iowa football games, and really enjoying their family and grandchildren Angela, Justin, Jordan, Shannon, Elizabeth and Alex, Michael, Paige, Johanna, and Sarah.

She is preceded in death by her love, Dale Crawford, sister Jan, father, step mother, and step father.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Foundation Iowa Chapter.
