Patricia "Pat" Kay Peterson

Patricia “Pat” Kay Peterson, age 74, of West Des Moines, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 15, 2014. She was born to Kedric and Rosemary Ewbank in Terre Haute, IN, and grew up in Davenport, IA, where she met her best friend and husband Ron. She is survived by her loving husband Ron of 53 years; daughters, Cindy (Jim) Hetzler of Rochester, NY and Cathy Peterson (Richard Tucker) of Sacramento, CA; grandsons, Joe and Jason Hetzler; siblings, Jim Ewbank and Bonnie Paul; and mother-in-law, Irene Peterson.

Pat completed her Dental Hygiene training at the University of Iowa. She and Ron relocated to Des Moines where she worked as a dental hygienist and they raised their daughters. Pat was an avid bridge player, life master, and devoted countless hours organizing partnerships at the Des Moines Bridge Center. She loved to read, enjoyed working crossword puzzles, and was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. She will be remembered as a loving wife, wonderful mother and grandmother, great sister and daughter-in-law, cherished friend, and as an independent, winter-loving spirit. The family extends their appreciation for the physicians and staff at Iowa Methodist Medical Center for the care and support they provided.

Visitation will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines on Sunday, January 19, from 4 to 7 pm. A memorial celebration of life service will be held at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1105 Grand Ave. in West Des Moines on Monday, January 20, at 11 am.
