Carl Amos, 84, passed away at his home Tuesday, January 14, 2014.

Carl was born January 23, 1929 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Ray and Grace Amos. He served in the Iowa National Guard for 25 years, retiring as a Captain. He retired from Yellow Pages in 1989. Carl enjoyed fishing, photography and playing the guitar. He was a member of the Twin River Country Band. He was a fan of both the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Iowa State Cyclones. Carl’s pride and joy were his grandkids.

Carl is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eunice; children, Brad (Tracy) Amos and Libby Amos; his beloved grandchildren, Cameron and Alexa; and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Bobbie Amos.

The family will greet friends Saturday, January 18, 2014, beginning at 12:30 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. at Christ Lutheran, 6411 SE 5th Street. Carl will be laid to rest at Avon Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association in loving memory of Carl.
