Virginia Bates

Virginia Elizabeth Bates, 81, passed away Monday, January 13, 2014 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.

Elizabeth was born May 3, 1932 in Chillicothe, Missouri to Arthur and Fonda Mae (Parks) Watkins.

She is survived by her daughters, Jeanie Flipping, Sharon Bates and Brenda Tomlinson; 24 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Whitehurst and daughter, Mary Morris.

Services will be from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. Friday, January 17, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines followed by burial at 10:00 a.m. at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
