Leah Snell

Leah Snell, 83, passed away from cancer Sunday, January 12, 2014 at UnityPoint Hospice Taylor House in Des Moines, Iowa.

Leah was born June 3, 1930 in Ackley, Iowa, daughter of Freda and Roy Heffelmeier. She graduated from Ackley High School in 1947 and later graduated from American Institute of Business in Des Moines, Iowa.

She worked from 1958 to 1962 as secretary at the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. In 1963 she became legal secretary at Juvenile Court and went on to become Supervisor of the Secretarial Department in 1975.

Leah was a talented musician, singing, playing the piano, organ and saxophone. She made many friends at Mercy Park Apartments in Des Moines, Iowa.

Leah is survived by her sister, Ione Melos of Sequim, Washington; niece, Linda Melos of Sequim, Washington; and nephew, Richard Melos of Lynchburg, Virginia. Leah will be missed by her family and friends, especially her sister, Ione.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
