Wanda Sprague

Wanda Hester (Grinstead) Sprague died Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at Sunnyview Care Center in Ankeny. She was born in Des Moines on August 22, 1915 to Maurice and Abigail Hester. After her mother’s death, she was raised by her aunt and family, Eva and Loren Grinstead. She attended Lincoln High School and later, moved to Berwick. On October 6, 1932, she married Milton C. Sprague and they lived in Berwick until she moved to Ankeny 7 years ago.
They raised three children, who along with their spouses are, Dorothy and Walter McCleary, Bondurant; Bill and Shirley Sprague, Berwick; Susan and Gary Vignaroli, Grapevine, TX. Other survivors include 8 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Milton; grandson, Justin Hooten; a sister; and three brothers.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 10, 2007 at 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenye. Services will be Saturday, August 11 at 10:00 a.m. at the Berwick Congrational Church with burial at the Berwick Cemetery.
