Nancy K. Davidson born January 4, 1940 (Stone Crest Retirement Community Apartments in Des Moines) was the only child of Marge and Bernie Davidson, former owners of Davidson United Shows, a traveling carnival seen in many towns in Iowa and Missouri. Nancy passed away, Friday, January 10, 2014.
Please do not mourn but rejoice in her life!!
Nancy believed and lived “Sharing God’s Book of Life” with all she met and helped along the way. She retired abruptly after 35 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse, due to an injury, but never allowed her disability to disable her. She thoroughly enjoyed helping others and mentoring others in the nursing field. If you needed something, she would be there for you, without regard for herself.
Nancy was never without a book in her hand. She shared her books with friends, and other Christian churches helping establish many Christian libraries in DM and small communities throughout Iowa.
Nancy knew people from all walks of life. God and her grandmother, her namesake helped mold her into the person she became. Nancy was a volunteer at the DM VA Hospital, Senior Care Companion, helping others in nursing homes. Her pride and joy was receiving the United Way Volunteer of the Year Award in 2003. Nancy was also awarded the Governor’s Award for 10,000 volunteered hours at the VA Hospital in 2013.
She was a member of Staves Memorial United Methodist Church and Calvary Apostolic Church here in Des Moines. Graduate of East High in 1958, attended University of Northern Iowa, and DMACC, and graduated from the DM school of Practical Nursing.
She is survived by her son, David Robbins; five grandchildren, Jayna (John) Lester, David (Kelly) Robbins, Nicholas (Danielle) Robbins, Talon Robbins and Trenton Robbins; ten great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Jonathan, Dakota, Elija, Caleb, Lexi, Desi, Cory, Beni and Brenna; as well as many close friends.
Nancy was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy Robbins; and parents, Marge and Bernie.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. Funeral Service will be held, 2:30, Tuesday, January 14, at the funeral home.

David, I want to express my condolences to you and your family for the loss of your mother. I am very sorry to hear this.
I worked as part of the Davidson Shows "game jockey", and remember you quite well and been wanting to and trying to find you & touch base again with you again. I never got to know your mom like I did Bernie and Marge, but I felt it was important to me to send you my condolences. I first want to say how sorry I am for this loss and hope you can move on and do well! It's been a long time (1983 & 1984), if you wish, please get in touch with me again, be great to hear from you!! We was Sorry to of Nancy's passing. All are thoughts and Prayers are with her and her family durning this time of loss of a loved one that was loved by many. We are true sorry and feel really bad that we could not make it to the viewing or service, but we are spending are evening traveling down memory lane. Starting with the first time each of us met Nancy and became a part of her life as she became a part of ours. Nancy will always be missed greatly, and we will always remember what a wonderful lady she was while we was blessed with her presence.

I am the daughter of Odis and Evelyn Davidson. We were together more in our "youth" years. Sorry we were not together more,but am delighted to know that she had a good life.I just lost my brother, Tom, in December so share your sorrow. Nancy did good things, had a good life and is now in heaven. You can't get any better than that. Did not know about her passing until this a.m. and now it is too late to drive to D.M. for the service. Sorry. Know there are not many relatives left but would have enjoyed seeing the ones there. Peace to you all.

Nancy was a very sweetheart. The family and friends will be in my thoughts and pray. Sorry to hear about grandma Nancy passing away. she will always be loved and miss by so many of her family, friends and carney friends. My god be with you as you go though this hard time. And may God be with family.. Sending My Condolences.
