Ruth E. Jefferson

Mrs. Ruth E. Jefferson, 100, passed away on January 8, 2014 at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

Ruth was born May 26, 1913 in Benet, MO to John and Ellen (Roberts) Henderson. She is survived by her grandchildren: Rex, Dennis, Ross and Rochelle Abbington, Renee (James) Scott, Lana Forte, David (Carol), Mark and Paul Hamilton and Lisa (Paul) Clark; five generations of great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; children, Ellen Abbington and Lemuel and LeRoy Hamilton; grandchildren, Venus Rayford and Robert Abbington; and great-granddaughter, Arceyya Scott.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 13, also at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery.
