Evelynne Wright

Evelynne A. Wright, 70, passed away at her home Monday, January 6, 2014 of cancer.

Evelynne was born December 13, 1943 in Des Moines. She was a beautiful artist and freelance photographer. Her artwork included woodcarving, watercolor, oil paint, pastels and needle punch. Evelynne’s art is displayed in 48 States and several foreign countries. Her talent was sought after by animal lovers and various dog shows. She had a passion for wildlife and was a member of Friends of Walnut Woods State Park.

Evelynne is survived by her loving husband of almost 49 years, Glenn; son, Matt (Amy) Wright; daughter, Paulette (Gilbert) Putz; four grandchildren, Sarah, Shawn, Ryan and Ilyse; brothers, David and Jerry Thacker; sisters, Edie (Dennis) Wik and Sue Quimby; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilmer and Evelynne Thacker; and seven siblings, Jimmy, Tommy, Colleen, Jeanine, Glenn, Karl and Bud.

A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
