Eolian (Oley) Elvira Griffith

Eolian (Oley) Elvira Griffith went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, January 2, 2014. She was born November 20, 1918 to Leslie and Emily Seiberling.

Oley enjoyed family vacations, Sunday dinners and family reunions. She enjoyed her church and her church family. But above all else she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She attended her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities and sporting events with pride. Oley loved fishing and was lovingly known as the “Walleye Mama” at Mille Lacs Lake in Minnesota. She loved to play cards, especially Pitch and Poker. She was quite competitive and didn’t like to lose.

Oley is survived by her son, Jerry (Patti) of Apache Junction, Arizona; daughter, Cathy (Tim) Jeffords of Altoona, Iowa; brothers, Ernie Seiberling, Carl and Hazel Seiberling, Dale and Juanita Seiberling, and Floyd and Dona Seiberling; sister-in-law, Nancy Schooler; grandchildren, Heather (Andrew) Strawn, Abby (Andy) Ratzlaff, Natalie Griffith, Jody Griffith, Dawn Griffith (Brent), Kristin (Bob) Rounds and Holly (Scott) Peterson; 14 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Park; son, Gary; and brothers, Melvin, Gordon, James and Don Seiberling.

Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2014, at the First Congregational Church of Mitchellville, 211 Park Ave. NE with burial to follow at Mitchellville Cemetery.
