Freda Irene Black

Freda Irene Black, 88, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014 at the Carlisle Care Center in Carlisle, Iowa.

Freda was born June 10, 1925 in Lucas County, Iowa to Lee and Edith (Thorne) Casner. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Des Moines and was employed by American Chiropractic prior to retirement.

Freda is survived by her daughter, Susan Eckel (John Gorla); grandson, Everett “Greg” Carpenter (Brandi); two other grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Black; son, Owen Williams; and her siblings, Waunita Kuhns (Richard), Francis Brown, Laura Cage (Dean), Ruth Cunningham (Jerry) and Ernest Casner (Flora Lee).

According to her wishes, cremation has occurred. There will be no services held at this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
