Dixie Coffin

Dixie Coffin, 76, resident of Urbandale Care Center, passed away December 26th, 2013 from effects of dementia. She was born June 16, 1937 to William and Lila Tarr of Des Moines, Iowa.

Dixie was a graduate of Lincoln High School and was a lifetime south side resident of Des Moines. She married Carrol Coffin in 1958 and enjoyed a loving relationship until his death in 1997. She was a proud south sider and you would often see her at the baseball and softball fields as well as many of her children’s activities at Lincoln High School. Her talents in ceramic painting were a blessing to her family and friends. To receive a ceramic gift from Dixie was truly a sign of her love for you.

Dixie was a beloved mother and is survived by her three children, Brian Coffin (Julie), of Overland Park, KS; Renee White (Patrick) of Adel, IA; Penny Page (Jerry) of Milo, IA. She is also survived by two sisters, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 30, 2013 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to Urbandale Health Care Center at 4614 S. 84th Street, Urbandale, IA.
