Ronnie Lorenz, 66, was born June 9, 1947, in Des Moines, the son of Delbert and Lillie Lorenz. He passed away December 18, 2013, in Altoona.

Ronnie was a Navy Veteran, serving a double tour during Vietnam. He worked at the Local #347 for over 30 years. Ronnie loved softball, he would live, eat, breathe and sleep softball. He coached for many years and was blessed to coach many of his granddaughter’s teams through the years.

Ronnie enjoyed working on race cars in the pits, golfing in his “younger days”, and was an avid Hawkeye fan. He was a jokester, always making people smile. Ronnie liked to keep you on your toes and give you a hard time. You knew you were part of the family when he gave you a nickname. Ronnie will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ronnie is survived by his loving wife, Carol; daughter, Tory King; step-daughter, Kim Woolery; grandchildren, Shawna Woolery, Jeremy Woolery, Alyssa Lorenz, Keegan Lorenz, Callie Lorenz, Kayla Lorenz and Gabriel King; great-grandson, Landen Catlin; brother, Stephen Lorenz; other loving relatives and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Chad King; and brother, Fred Lorenz.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday, December, 22, 2013, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW., with cremation to follow. Memorial services will be at a later date.
