Jo Lane Bailey, 52, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013.
Jo was born August 23, 1961 in Des Moines, Iowa to Robert and Lydia Bailey. She was a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area. Jo graduated from South East Polk High School in 1979. She went on to graduate from Simpson College and worked as a draftsman. Jo was a very dedicated worker with a contagious laugh. Family was important to her and she was lovingly referred to as the “favorite” aunt and sister. Jo enjoyed reading and knitting. She liked going to movies and plays and was a season ticket holder at the Civic Center. Jo loved to travel, especially to Alaska.
Jo is survived by her mother, Lydia Bailey of Pleasant Hill; sister, Sheryl (Dan) Dales of Altoona; and nephews, Josh (Melissa) Shaver of Grimes and Christopher Ryan (Jessica) Shaver of West Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Bailey and brothers, Michael and Alan Bailey, all of Mitchellville.
There will be no services held at this time. A Celebration of Life is pending for the summer.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Blank Park Zoo or to Des Moines Performing Arts/Civic Center.

I was so saddened to hear of Jo's death. What happened?
Know that my prayers and thoughts are with you.

Lets get together soon, you are so close and yet we never seem to make the time.

We fondly remember Jo from her trip here to Boston with her mom and her brother, Alan. We have beautiful memories of Jo's love and devotion to family

I am very sorry for your loss. I hope knowing that your loved one is in our loving heavenly Father's memory will bring your family comfort during this difficult time. Very soon now we can look forward to God's promise at a Revelation 21:4: "... Death will be no more, neither will mourning, nor outcry, nor pain be anymore, the former thing gave passed away."

Jo and I worked together at Iowa Prestressed Concrete in Iowa Falls and Des Moines. She set up a program to teach our foremen how to read drawings. She also worked with Quality Control to anticipate dimensional and quality problems before they happened. She was the best!
Jo was an excellent drafter and a special person and friend. She will be missed by many at IPC and now at PDM.

I worked with Jo and always enjoyed talking with her about plays and movies. She was thought of very highly here and loved by us all. She loved talking about her nephews and the most wonderful person she knew...her sister. She will be missed.

I worked with Jo for many years and she was a wonderful loving person. We started together in Iowa Falls. She loved all of you so much and her nephews were always the highlight of her life.
