Noble G. Lopeman

Noble G. Lopeman joined his heavenly family on December 17, 2013 after an extended illness. He was born in Pontiac, Illinois on August 25, 1925 to Ernest and Bell Lopeman. He was the youngest of seven children. Surviving are two brothers, Harold Lopeman of Champaign, Illinois, and Howard Lopeman of Streator, Illinois.

After graduating from Pontiac High School Noble joined the United States Navy and served in the South Pacific. He was wounded and returned to Hawaii for a year to recuperate. Following his discharge he went to the University of Iowa under the G.I. Bill and received a degree in business and cost accounting. It was there that he met his wife. While in college he was an active member or the Theta Xi Fraternity and lettered in track.

Surviving Noble are his wife, Betty of 64 years; two daughters, Cindy Brandt (Bob), and Deborah Soward of Tupelo, MS; two grandchildren, Jason Soward and Amanda Gholson (Brad); and two great-grandchildren, Meridith Gholson and Haden Soward.

Noble enjoyed many social activities such as playing golf with the Willow Creek Men's Club as long as his health permitted, and bowling up to 2 years ago with the seniors at Merle Hay. He loved card games and played bridge with the Urbandale seniors and also played at the bridge house. He received the Gold Life Masters Award.
