Eric Eugene Ewurs

Eric Eugene Ewurs, 52, passed away suddenly due to injuries sustained in a car accident on Thursday, December 12, 2013. You will be greatly missed.

Eric was born April 10, 1961. He lived by the motto: “Live Free, Die Well.” Eric will always be remembered as having a heart of gold. He was young at heart, carefree and fun-loving. Eric was a family man and liked working on cars. He loved riding his Harley, having the wind in his hair.

Eric is survived by his children: Sierra Montano, Vincent Ewurs and Chayton Ewurs; step-son, Tanner Killinger; grandchildren, Cameron Fitch and Dallas Montano; and fiancée, Karen LeClaire, all of Iowa. He is also survived by his siblings: Robert Ewurs, Jr. of Iowa, Linda Salinas of Washington, Clarence Ewurs III, Deborah Ewurs, both of Iowa, Hazel Zacharias of Missouri, Bill Zacharias, Mary Vock, both of Illinois, Peggy Ewurs Guillot, Charles Ewurs, both of Arizona, Susan Winkelman, Barbie Baker, Travis Baker, and George (Jen) Baker, all of Iowa; step-siblings: Earl Nickerson and Karen Aldini, both of Iowa; Godmother, Peggy Ingram; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Luella and Art Zacharias; his father and step-mother, Robert and Rozella Ewurs; maternal grandparents, Fred and Ethel Smith; paternal grandparents, Pauline Smith and Clarence Ewurs II; and his aunt and uncle, Mae and Jim Kelchner; and step-parents, Norman and Ronnie Winkelman.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2013 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday before the service.
