Service Details

Clyde R. Fickes, 89, died at his home Friday, August 3, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial at Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Clyde was born April 19, 1918 to Clyde and Mona Fickes in Des Moines. He graduated from East High in 1936. Clyde served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He graduated from Drake University College of Liberal Arts in June of 1954, he received his degree of Bachelor of Laws from Drake University Law School in August of 1954 and went on to receive his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Drake University Law School in October of 1968. Clyde was a Representative of Champion International (now International Paper) until his retirement in 1979. He was a 50 year member of the Eastgate Masonic Lodge, the Des Moines Consistory, ZaGaZig Shrine, Downtown Lions, Elks Club and Baldwin Patterson American Legion.
Clyde is survived by his beloved wife, Helen Fickes and his nieces and nephews, Richard N. Erickson, June C. Goodman, Jeanne A. Fisher, Curtis C. Erickson, Norma Jean Sandoval, Robert L. Fickes, Clyde W. Fickes, Marda J. Fickes, Mona A. Fickes and John K. Fickes.
Memorial contributions may be made to Eastgate Masonic Lodge.
