Ruth Hunt, 98, died Thursday, December 13, 2013 at Trinity Care Center Luther Park in Des Moines. She was born November 6, 1915 in Des Moines to Oscar (Bernece) Olson.
She Graduated from East High School and was a member of the East High Alumni Association. she was a member of the Unity Lutheran Church’s ELCW, she served as President of the Auxiliary for a time and she had been a volunteer for Iowa Lutheran Auxiliary since 1957. She was a member of the “Double D” Club since 1933, and served a term on the Luther Care Services Foundation Board.
She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, and was dedicated to volunteering.
Ruth is survived by her daughter Nancy (Steve) Brady; her grandsons Morgan (Anna) Hunt, Griffin Hunt, and Mathew (Heather) Brady; her granddaughters Susan (Nick) Conner, Karen Brady, and Kelley Hunt; as well as her 8 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Unity Lutheran Church, 1450 E 33rd St. Des Moines.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Unity Lutheran Church in loving memory of Ruth.

Nancy, Thank you so much for sending me a note and the bulletin. I thought for sure your mom would be the honoree at the next East High All School Reunion. I'm sorry that she never got that honor.

Please express my condolences to the family of Ruth Hunt. I had the pleasure of visiting with Ruth in the Volunteer Department at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. We shared memories of attending East High School and of being Past-Presidents of the ILH Auxiliary. I was delighted to have Ruth Hunt attend our Past-Presidents Tea.

I volunteered with Ruth for many years at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. She was such an inspiration to me, because of her dedication and uplifting personality. We still kept in touch after she could no longer volunteer. I'm going to miss her, but I'm sure she's with the Lord. I will keep her family in my prayers.

I was terribly saddened to learn of Ruth's death.....I had just recently sent her a Christmas card, not knowing that she had moved to Luther Park.
She was a kind, caring person who deeply loved her family and her Lord. Ruth will be greatly missed by many.
I will really miss not getting her annual birthday/anniversary and Christmas cards....she always remembered.
May God be with you at this sad time, but may we all rejoince, knowing that she's gone home to be with the Lord.
