Nona Rogers-Clift, 75, was born January 29, 1938 in McCook, Nebraska, the daughter of Earl and Helena VanVleet. She died on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Nona retired from the VA Hospital as Director of Respiratory Therapy after more than 20 years of service, and was instrumental in the implementation of the Home Health Oxygen program.

She was a member of Al-Anon in Ankeny, enjoyed crafting and entertaining guests. Nona, also lovingly known as Grandma Eddie and Nanny, loved spoiling her grandchildren and cats any chance she had.

Nona is survived by her husband of 22 years, James “Jim” Clift; daughters, Carla (Jim) Castellano, Cindy (Gary) Meden, Jane Rogers and Theresa (John) Anderman; step-daughters, Nancy (Peter) Kizilos-Clift, Sue (Tim) Ausavich, and Barbara Clift (Dave Berns); 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Steve (Joyce) VanVleet; and her sisters, Jerri (Rick) Mazzotti and Gindy Everett. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Leonard Rogers; daughter, Catherine Rogers; as well as two brothers and two sisters.

The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2013 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with a memorial service beginning at noon.
