Clark McMullen, 66, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2013. He was born November 27, 1947 to Earl and Dickey McMullen in Omaha, Nebraska.
Clark was a proud member in the U.S. Coast Guard where he was a Damage Controlman, serving time in Vietnam. His career was spent with AT&T and he was especially proud of his work as a lineman. He enjoyed reading and being outdoors, but most of all spending time with his family and close friends. Clark loved his little house, workshop, chickens and garden, and could fix about anything.
Clark’s dearest wish was to leave behind a legacy of love. He had the gift of being present in each moment and believed that no one moment was more important than the next. He had this to teach all who touched him. In addition to his family, friends and cats he especially cherished his Wednesday ROC (Reinventing our Careers) friends, Stephen Ministry and the beloved community of Plymouth Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy McMullen; son, Leigh McMullen; daughter, Anna (Bryce) Osborn; brother, Kent (Rita) McMullen; grandchildren, Katelyn Karlzen, Elizabeth and Garrison Osborn, Stone, Ella and Hunter McMullen.
Clark was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held, 11 a.m., Monday, December 16, 2013 at Plymouth Congregational Church. Friends may visit with family on Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. at the church.
Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Hope Lodge in Iowa City or to the Stephen Ministry at Plymouth Congregational Church in loving memory of Clark.

Regrettably, I only met Clark a few times, but quickly realized he was a man of many qualitieshumorous, well read, always greeted you with an infectious smile. Especially, I was impressed with his empathy for others particularly those less fortunate than him. Clarks life was a gift to all who knew him.

I have written to Cathy and to Kent. From the time I knew Clark as a small child until the time of his death, there was one thing so special about Clark: he always wanted to do the right thing. He was very courageous in face of a difficult terminal illness. I learned so much from his courage during the last year of his life. I will never, never forget him. His loving cousin, Sarah Scott
