George Warren Myhervold, 84, peacefully fell asleep in death on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Karen Acres Health Care Center. He was born November 18, 1929 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of George F. and Alta (Lutz) Myhervold.

George worked for Meredith for over 30 years as an artist on many projects. He retired in 1994 as an Associate Art Director of Successful Farming Magazine. Since his retirement, he has enjoyed designing and building furniture, photography and traveling to many places in the world with his wife. George will be remembered for his marvelous sense of humor.

He dedicated his life to God as a Jehovah’s Witness in January 1954. George has been very active serving as an Elder since 1972 with both Walnut Creek and Greenwood Congregations in West Des Moines.

George is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Donna Myhervold; daughter, Janice (Tracy) Whiting; son, Charles (Melinda) Myhervold; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas (Sheila) Myhervold; and many other family members and loving friends.

The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2013 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1385 Buffalo Road in West Des Moines, with inurnment to follow at Jordan Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of Karen Acres Health Care Center for the wonderful care they gave George. We also thank Unity Point Hospice for making George’s last days peaceful.
