Dora May Dorriss

Dora May Dorriss passed away on December 10, 2013 at Karen Acres in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born April 20, 1919 in Bolckow, Missouri. She was married to Ralph E Davison for 15 years and later married William G. Dorriss. Dora was the owner and operator of Dora May’s Lounge in downtown Des Moines for many years.

She is survived by her two daughters, Martha (Davy) Davison, and Judy (Dave) Brown; her sister, Grace (Bob) Abbott; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Dora was preceded in death by her parents, Dora May and Byron Townsend; her daughter, Sharlett Douglas; her husbands, Ralph E. Davison and William G. Dorriss; and her brothers, Marvin, Lloyd, Leroy, Charles and Vernie.

Services will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines with visitation on Sunday, December 15, 2013 from 5 to 7 pm and the funeral on Monday, December 16, at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery.
