Service Details
Vernon Brooks was born May 23, 1936 in Guthrie Center, Iowa to William and Mary Ellen Brooks. He retired from Neuman Construction after working for 18 years and was a member of the Teamsters Union. Vernon passed away on Monday, December 9, 2013 at the age of 77.
Vernon is survived by his children, Jay (Penny) Brooks, Mark Brooks, Tosha (Till) Brooks, and Holly (Pedro) Fernandez; sister, Dianna Beveridge; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Ellen “Dolly” Brooks; siblings, Milton Brooks and Susie Cabrera; and 3 great-grandsons.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines with a visitation from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League in Vernon’s memory.

We met Vern through friends of ours, Dan and Sandy Amsden. It was only a couple of weeks ago that all of us sat and visited at Old Country Buffet. It won't be the same with him gone. Please know how sorry we are about your loss. May Christ be your strength and comfort, as you face the days ahead.
