Burdette “Burt” Willard Hunt, 77, was born March 29, 1936, in Yale, Iowa, the son of Forrest and Clara (DeVoogt) Hunt. He passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 7, 2013. He was employed by the Southeast Polk School District in the maintenance department for 20 years.
Burt is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Myrna Hunt; daughter, Jerrine (Donald) Sanford; granddaughters, Shianne Kern and Cierra Hunt; great-grandchildren, Trapper Hunt Kern and Keaton A. Walker-Zepeda; siblings, Retha Masengill, Karean Russell, Sondra (Don) Paul, Sherrill (Rod) Henry and Lynn Hunt; many nieces and nephews; other loving relatives and many special friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Eric and David Hunt and his siblings, Arlis Dollarhide, Donna Vee Correy, Arleta Grove, Afton Cabelka and Kreigh Hunt.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 13, 2013 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th St. SW. Funeral services will be 1 P.M. Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Runnells Christian Church, 309 Brown Street, with burial to follow at Lowman Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Runnells Christian Church in loving memory of Burt.

Burt, I hope we will meet again another time another place. You taught me how to hunt & you did a good job. I will never forget you & I could only hope to be as goodhearted and nice a guy as you were. I won't forget you as long as I live on Earth. Til we meet again.

I was so shocked to hear of Burt's passing. He was such a GREAT GUY and he will be missed by many.. Any time we needed something done at work, you could always count on Burt to take care of it. May he rest in peace. He will always be our our hearts... and the family will be in our prayers for this great loss.

BURT YOU WERE A KIND, WARM HEARTED PERSON, WHO ALWAYS HAD A JOKE TO TELL. I REMEMBER THE MANY FISHING TRIPS AND HOW YOU ALWAYS WORE JEAN SHORTS WITH PENNY LOAFERS WHICH MADE US ALL LAUGH. YOU WILL BE MISSED UNCLE BURT, EACH AND EVERY DAY.

Sad to hear about Burt. Burt would always have time to tell jokes and give advice when needed. We had many laughs about work or just life in general.

Burt was a one of a kind very special person. I have many great memories of him when we were all kids in Perry. I will always remember his hot hand in basketball and smooth moves on the dance floor. He will be missed here on earth but I am sure he is making one family very happy in heaven. I hope they are all celebrating together. RIP my dear uncle.
