Service Details

Thomas Restad passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at the Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines, IA after battling with pancreatic cancer. Services will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 12 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

Tom was born in 1946 in Jacksonville, Florida to Amos and Esmer Restad. At a young age his family relocated to Grand Forks, North Dakota. He graduated from Central High School in 1964 and went on to earn a degree at the University of North Dakota. He worked for Pepsi within various regions for 40 years and retired in 2010 as Territory General Manager in Des Moines.

Tom is survived by his wife of 45 years Connie (Simenson); children, Brian (Christa) Restad, Rayanne (Scot) Foss, and Amy (Scott) Feinberg; grandchildren, Gregory, Simen, Jacob, and Veronica; step-grandchildren, Mitchell and Samantha; brother, Tim (Judy) Restad; sisters, Lynn (Ron) Bartuska and Susan (Terry)Hurst. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Lee Restad.

Tom enjoyed several hobbies including, fishing, hunting, trap shooting and golf. He never missed an opportunity to attend his grandchildren’s sporting events or cheering for the UND Sioux hockey team. He took great pride in his work at Pepsi as it gave him the opportunity to connect and build relationships with many people in all channels of the industry. Tom served as a board member of the Iowa Grocery Industry Association and a member of the Pioneer Gun Club in Des Moines, IA.
