George "Kip" Waters

George "Kip" Waters, 70, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013, at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, IA

Kip was born in Glendale, California on November 30, 1943 to Curtis and Kathryn (McQuellen) Waters. In 1950, his family moved to Tucson, Arizona over concerns about the health of his older brother Curtis. There he graduated from Salpointe High School in 1962.

Kip served in the United States Marine Reserves and was honorably discharged in 1968. He worked 27 years as a reservation agent for Trans World Airlines (TWA) in Chicago. After that, 17 years as a dispatcher for Media Com in Des Moines.

Kip enjoyed car racing, music, books, sci fi movies, and football, specifically the Chicago Bears. He had a smile and a story for anyone that wanted to listen.

He is survived by his wife Janine (Vickerman); sons Cullen, Eric, and Jason; sister-in-law, Mary Waters and children Curtis, Tracy, and Craig (with 6 great nieces and nephews); brother-in-law, Robert and Giada Vickerman and children Justina, Milda, Robert, Mathew (with 6 great nieces and nephews); and brother-in-law, Steve and Jeri Cain and children Elizabeth, Julie, Megan (with 4 great nieces and nephews).

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Curt.

According to Kip's wishes, his body has been cremated, and will be taken to Tucson at a later date.
