Jim Halsten

Jim Halsten, 64, of Des Moines, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2007, at the Veterans Hospital in Knoxville, IA. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 4, 2007 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home. The visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Following the funeral service Jim will be cremated.
Jim was born February 27, 1943 in Des Moines to Ole and Sarah Halsten. While in the Army, Jim was stationed in Germany. Jim enjoyed playing guitar, collecting records, horse racing, drag racing, and he was a wonderful son, brother and uncle.
He is survived by his mother, Sarah Emery, of Ankeny; his sisters, Carolyn (Donald) Erickson, of Des Moines; Sharon (Larry) Critchlow, of Des Moines; Sandy Halsten (Don Charron), of Des Moines; his brother, Jerry (Chris) Halsten, of Urbandale; his sister-in-law, Linda Halsten, of Creston; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Ole Halsten; his brother, Marvin Halsten; and his brother Ron Halsten.
