Charles "Chuck, Chaz..." Cole, 48, went home to be with the Lord on November 17, 2006, after a year-long battle with cancer.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 NE 52nd Avenue. Visitation will be held Monday, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue.
Chuck had an incredible sense of humor and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone. Quick with a smile, he could fix anything. If it was worth doing, it was worth doing well. He was an Equipment Operator III for the City of Ankeny, running the sign shop and driving a mean snow plow. He loved playing and coaching softball, boating, and most of all spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Valerie Kottke-Cole; his children, Shanda (Hijinio) Carreon, Natalie (Doug) Gibler, and Zachary Kottke; grandchildren, Dylan, Madelina, Alexis, and Lilliana; his mother, Isabella Cole; siblings, James (Judy) Griffin, Margaret Hartman, Catherine Griffin, and Jeri (Bernard) Kriner.
Charles was preceded in death by his father, Gerald N. Cole; sister, Charlene Cole; grandparents, Charles and Ethel Cole, Francis and Margaret Slack; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
