Kathy A. Overmann-Hamilton

Kathy A. Overmann-Hamilton, 48, went to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, December 3 after a long courageous battle with breast cancer. Services will be held at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Parish, 1230 Merle Hay Rd., Des Moines, IA; with visitation on Friday, December 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. and the funeral service on Saturday, December 7 at 10:00 a.m. Kathy will be cremated, with burial at Masonic Cemetery.

Kathy was born in Mount Pleasant, Iowa in 1965 to Harold and Juanita (Biedenbach) Overmann. She lived in many small Iowa towns until her family settled in Spirit Lake, Iowa where she graduated from high school in 1983. She then earned her degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. Kathy worked in the Des Moines area in the insurance industry, most recently at American Enterprise. She was active in the Des Moines and Clive Jaycees for many years, earning a lifetime achievement award for her service.

Kathy is survived by her parents, Harold and Juanita Overmann of Spirit Lake; her husband, Tom; her son, Nick; 5 siblings, Julie (Tom) Dalton of Wheaton, IL, Mike (Penny) Overmann of Elkhorn, NE, Jim Overmann of Marion, IA, Tony (Becky) Overmann of Marion, IA, and David (Bobbi) Overmann of Omaha, NE; 10 nieces and nephews; and her son's paternal grandparents, Jim and Janet Clayton of Des Moines.
