Helen Goldie Belcher

Helen Goldie Belcher, 87, received her angel wings on Monday, December 2, 2013 at home surrounded by her beloved family.

Helen was born April 16, 1926 in Des Moines, Iowa to Ethel and Ora Thomas, Sr. She is survived by her daughter, Leota Quick; eight grandchildren: Jeff (Donna) Lewis, Roxanne (Tim) Lewis, Scott (Mary) Belcher, Harold “Skeeter” Belcher III, Cindy (Dereck) Lewis, La Rae (Tim) Bryant, Jessica (Mark) Cochrane and Joni (Dustin) Burner; ten great-grandchildren: Rusty (Katie) Ozimek, Mandy (Teddy) Cockerham, Courtney Belcher, Shelby (Joe) Bryant, Zach (Sarah) Robinson, Trever (Nikole) Robinson, Dakota Bryant, Natalie Lewis, Brayden Lewis and Sophie Burner; seven great-great-grandchildren: Logan Cockerham, Aubree Belcher, Mariah Cockerham, Maddie Ozimek, Kolin Ozimek, Alex Yoger and Peyton Robinson; sisters, Gladys Snodgrass and Maxine Novonty, brother, Glen Thomas; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Belcher, Sr.; son, Harold “Bud” Belcher, Jr.; great-grandson, Scott “Scotty” Belcher; sisters, Leota Dippold and Betty Thomas; brothers, Vernon, Raymond, Ora, Jr., and Virgil Thomas.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 7, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening, also at the funeral home.
