Anne Walker

Anne Marie Walker, 70 passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on December 1st, 2013 after her valiant fight with cancer. Born on September 6th, 1943 in Oakland, California to Jerry and Mary Lyons (Benson).

Anne attended grade school in Coon Rapids, Iowa. She later graduated East High School in Des Moines, Iowa in 1961. Anne had a long career at Communications Data Services (CDS), owned and operated multiple taverns with her late husband, Lyle Walker and owned and maintained several properties in the Des Moines area. Throughout her life she applied herself to being a loving wife, caring mother, dedicated grandmother, and a good friend. She loved to garden, play pool, fish, play cards, gamble and spend time with her family. She was also a wonderful cook.

She is survived by her mother: Mary Lyons (Benson) her three beautiful daughters: Kendra (Doug), Rhonda (Mike), Cassandra two stepchildren: Kurt and JP six grandchildren: Misty (John), Sarah, James Jr., Tyler, Luke five great grandchildren: Courtney, Johnny, Mackenzie, Kysen, Addesyn as well as many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband: Lyle, her siblings: Mark and Larry and her father: Jerry who is undoubtedly glad to have his Anne Marie with him once more.

The family would like to acknowledge and give a special thanks to Anne's very special lifelong friends: Liz McNeeley and Sharon Weaver.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held in her honor at Fellowship Grace Church located at 2440 Capitol on Saturday, December 7th at 11am. There will be a short visitation with close friends and family immediately following the ceremony.
