Geraldine L. Jackson

Mrs. Geraldine Jackson, 91, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Mitchell Village in Mitchellville.

Geraldine was born February 8, 1922 in Otterville, Missouri, the daughter of Alfred and Cornelia (Lyle) Hogan. She had been a resident of the Des Moines area for the last 60 years. Geraldine was united in marriage to Mr. William Edward Jackson, who precedes her in death.

Geraldine was devout in her faith and willingly served in and loved her church. She enjoyed cooking and sewing. Geraldine enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and fishing. She enjoyed traveling and being with and taking care of children. She also enjoyed playing dominoes and scrabble.

Geraldine is survived by her daughter, Kim Fike; son-in-law, Gerald Fike; grandchildren, Adrienne Parker, DeNell Cravens and Tiffany Johnson; great-grandchildren, Kevin Parker, Kendra Parker, Jazlinn Tapp, Eric Spencer, Khari Braziel, Ikia Tapp, Kira Johnson, Lyric Sellers, Glen Sellers and Aiden Cravens; and great-great-grandchildren, Kamille Taylor and Kadence Tapp.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Cornelia; husband, William; and daughter, Charmette Parker.

There will be a visitation from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2013 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, December 7, 2013, at Bethel AME Church, 1528 E. University Avenue, Des Moines with burial to follow at Sunset Cemetery.
