Kathleen “Kathy” Bertha Edwards, 59, was born June 25, 1954, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Wayne and Dolly (Edwards) Thompson. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Friday, November 29, 2013, at her home.
Kathy collected spoons and has a love of children and dogs. She also enjoyed cross stitch and designing floor plans.
Kathy is survived by her husband, James Edwards; daughters, Sarah Edwards and Kristina (Kyle) Snyder; one grandchild; sister, Theresa “Terry” (Bill) Coyle; two nieces; one nephew; other loving relatives; and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, David Thompson.
The family will greet friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW in Altoona. Kathy’s Celebration of Life will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home, with burial to follow at the Altoona Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Kathy.

I was friends with Kathy and also worked with her at EMC. She was truely a great woman and friend. I am very blessed to have known her and she will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences to Jim, Sarah, Kristina and Michael.

I am also an EMC friend of Kathy's and marveled at the way she handled her life and her death. Her attitude was always so upbeat. We have all lost a ray of sunshine in our lives.

I am so sorry for the loss of your mother, wife, grandma, friend, aunt. Our loved ones leave us sooner than we are ready. Knowing that she is in the comfort of Gods hands and other loved ones up in heaven, hopefully will be somewhat of a comfort for you all. Just know that she is with you ALWAYS whenever you want to share a memory, a sad moment, a happy moment or just plain talk and that memories of Kathy are things NOBODY can ever take from any one of you, so hold them dear to your heart. Our heart goes out to you all.

So sorry to hear Kathy is gone. I knew her from EMC - I'd see her in the kitchen making her morning tea or in the break room reading a book. She had an awesome attitude towards her illness, and she did it her way. She touched my heart.
