Ruth Beintema Baxter Lawrenz, 98, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2013. She was born February 17, 1915, to Peter and Anna Beintema in Jasper County.
Ruth was a great homemaker and was the matriarch of the family. Her cards and correspondences will be greatly missed. Ruth worked at Maytag Factory in Newton, IA. She later retired from Parker Games in Des Moines, IA. She enjoyed going to Prairie Meadows and playing Bingo.
She is survived by her daughter, Ronicia Carmella (Mike) Cosner; son-in-law, Ron Bennett; brothers, Ernest and Elmer Langstraat; 15 grandchildren, as well as numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; and other family members.
Ruth was preceded in death by Allen Lawrenz, her loving husband; Don Baxter, father of her children; children, Shirley Robirds, Donna Dean Ellsworth, Ronald and Roland Baxter and Ricky Lawrenz; brother, Earl Beintema; and sister, Evelyn Gerhart.
Friends may visit with the family from 11 to 1 p.m., Thursday, December 5, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Services will be held at 1p.m., with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa or the Animal Rescue League in loving memory of Ruth.

Dear Carmella,
I am deeply grieved to hear of your moms passing, and sympathize with the pain of the loss you must be feeling. Please accept my sincere condolences. I pray that God gives you the strength and inner peace to carry you through these difficult times.
I knew your mother as an energetic and dynamic person that was always ready with a smile, some friendly conversation, and lotsa, lotsa food. At times, It made me wish for a bigger stomach because she just seemed so darn happy feeding me. Everyone instantly knew by the way she listened and spoke to you, that she was a loving and caring person. Personally, she always made me feel important and valued. And I will really miss that !
I believe that Aunt Ruth was Angel, a spunky earthbound one. Now, an angel with wings! Please take comfort in knowing that the life she lived, and the example she set, will live on through me, and through all the lives of the people that were lucky enough to have known her. And also know, that we are all here for you. Always

Carmella, so sorry to hear of your loss. Tim and I hope you are able to grieve with relief in knowing Ruth had a fruitful life and is enjoying the eternal joys.
