Charles "Pete" Henderson

Charles Edwards Henderson “Pete” was born December 23, 1963, in Taylor, Arkansas, to Jerline Seamster and Charlie Brown. He departed this life Wednesday, November 20, 2013, in Des Moines, Iowa.

He attended Ellis High School. He was a logger, and later after moving to Des Moines worked as a forklift driver for Calwestern. He enjoyed making people laugh, washing his cars, and playing dominoes and cards.

“Pete” was united in Holy Matrimony on April 22, 1984, to his lovely Donnie Faye Sanders, and to this union two children were born.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Brown and Jerline Semester Whitfield; three brothers, Elton “Sugie” Henderson, Sylvester “Buster” Davis, and Grover “Bubba Jr.” Henderson, Ronnie Brown; and one sister, Dorothy Wyrick; three step-brothers Billy Whitfield, Leroy Whitfield and Passie Lee Whitfield; two step-sisters, Elma Hall and Thelma Briggs.

He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife Donnie Faye Henderson of Des Moines, Iowa; one daughter Dartisha Henderson of Grand Junction, Colorado; one son Adrian Henderson of Des Moines, Iowa; one grandson Cavontae Turner; step-mom Sister Johnnie Mae White; five brothers, Harold Cooper of Buckner, Arkansas; Steven Brown of Texarkana, Arkansas; Eddie Henderson, Calvin Brown and Jack Brown all of Des Moines, Iowa; six sisters Eloise Henderson of Texarkana, Arkansas; Evertine Schon of Sioux City, Iowa; Shirley McGregor, Margaret Norwood and Barbara Brown of Des Moines, Iowa; Faye Knight-Wright of Rochester, Michigan; one step-brother, W.L. Whitfield of Stamps, Arkansas; three step-sisters, Zelma Grissom of Little Rock, Arkansas, Bobbie Dedner of Stamps, Arkansas and Cherie Stevens of Springhill, Louisiana; one aunt, Annie Pearl Farris of Missouri City, Texas; two special godchildren, Jau’ Janae and Jayla Jenkins of Houston, Texas; and a host of loving sister-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
