Bernice Walsmith

Bernice Mabel Walsmith, 90, passed away November 22, 2013 at Calvin Community in Des Moines, Iowa.
Bernice was born to George and Mabel Conn on November 28, 1922 in Des Moines, Iowa, and she graduated from Des Moines Lincoln High School, and married her high school sweetheart, Donald Franklin Walsmith, Sr. in January 1942. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than anything, and she loved to cook, read and work puzzles. She was a loving, caring person who put everyone’s needs before her own, and she will be truly missed by all.
She is survived by her son, Donald (Beverly) Walsmith, Jr.; daughters, Barbara (Kurt) Hoover; and Kathy (Jerry) Rank; and her four grandchildren, Jason Walsmith, Benjamin Walsmith, Frank Cownie, Jr. and Suzie Cownie, and two great-grandchildren, Mitchell Walsmith and Roan Walsmith. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Donald F. Walsmith, Sr. in 2009.

A private viewing service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at Hamilton's Funeral Home, Southtown location, with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
