Russell E. Davis

Russell E. Davis, 78, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center, with his loving wife Shirley, of 59 years, by his side. Russell was born December 2, 1934 to Margaret and Ralph Davis in Des Moines.

Russell grew up in Boone, Iowa but returned to Des Moines and graduated from DSM Lincoln High School. He retired from Sears in 1993 and opened Cars with Russ on SE 14th. Russell also sold windows and siding for Nu-Vu until February of 2013. Russell loved to play poker, travel and hunt. He was a very hardworking man but also loving, giving and lent a helping hand to everyone. He will be greatly missed.

Russell is survived by his wife, Shirley Davis; daughters, Linda Davis and Beverly (Kevin) Kaiser; granddaughter, Nichole (Jimmy) Kuhn; brother, Larry (Pat) Davis; and other loving family and beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Burial will follow the service at Brethern Cemetery in Dallas Center, Iowa. Family will greet friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26 at the funeral home.
