Richard Dale Strawn, II, 35, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Saturday, November 23, 2013, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th St SW, Altoona, followed by a funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Mitchellville Cemetery after the service.
Rick was born July 25, 1978, in Des Moines, to Richard Dale Strawn and Juanita Dianne (Criss). He is survived by his wife, Nicole Quidort; mom and step-dad, Juanita and Denny Gibson; dad and step-mom, Richard and Sharon Strawn; children, Kaiya, Jaxton, Lily and Sierra; sister, Tricia Strawn; step-siblings, Sally Lalor and Jason Hill; nieces and nephews, Brittanee, Kody, Keaton and Keeghan; grandmother, Rosemary Strawn; father- and mother-in-law, Dawn Quidort and Jan Schafer; brother- and sister-in-law, James and Jennifer; uncle and aunt, Jerry and Janette from Arkansas; as well as numerous cousins, extended family and friends.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in memory of Rick.

Wow! I just learned of Rickys passing all these years later. I coached him in hockey back in the late 90s. The Kings to be exact. He had a fearsome slap shot. I moved away from Iowa in the early 2000s.

Sorry to hear about the news. While some things have changed in my life, you were a large part of it for many years. I hope you have access to anything you want up there. My best to you, Nicole. Stay strong and know that the kids are forever your link to Little Richard, aka Francis, aka Sweetheart, etc. He was an entertaining fella. I hope the best for you and the kids.

Even though Rick and I lost contact for a long time, it still feels like I have lost a brother.

Dear Juanita and Family, so sorry for your loss. I Know in time of sorrow it is difficult to remember all of the good times but, there was many of them and remembering those always helped me through the sad. My prayers are with you.
We have known each other many years good friendships last. I always enjoyed chats with Rick at the salon while getting my hair done.

Juanita and Family I am so sorry for your loss!! I would see Ricky when I would take the kids to Pre-School and he would take Jaxton. We would talk until they came out !! It will seem funny not to see him there!! Heaven received another Angel this week!! If you need anything PLEASE just let me know!!

My heart aches for you. Can't imagine what it's like to lose a child. I just talked to Ricky at Burger King last week. He had his young son with him, and so proud. He didn't think I would recognize him. I remember him running around at Britt and Minon's when he was a toddler.
Such a good looking kid.
Anyway, sorry to ramble on. Cathy and I are praying for you to have peace with Ricky's passing. See you Saturday.

We had some rough days and I know they were some good and some bad but thru it all we had some great times my heart sunk when i got the news at one time in our lives we were like brothers and I will never forget my buddy "slick rick" I pray for your kids and for your family you were a big part of their life and they all loved you very much my deepest sympathies to them for this devastating loss.
