Frank A. Valadez
November 14, 2013
Frank Anthony Valadez, of Des Moines, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2013, at the VA Medical Center, with his loving family by his side. Frank was born on June 25, 1946, in Des Moines, to Mary Louise (Alatorre) and Daniel Valadez.
Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War in the 5/7 Calvary. Even after the war, Frank kept in touch with his brothers in arms. He made honoring his fellow veterans the most important aspect of his life. He was a member of the American Legion Post 731, Carpenter’s Local 106, and 5/7 Calvary Association. Frank also liked to golf, bowl, fast cars, music, dancing, and spending time at the lake in Missouri. When his sons were young he coached their little league teams. He was a devoted Hawkeye fan. He always helped people out when they needed it. He will be remembered as a “stand-up guy.” Most importantly he loved the time he had with his grandchildren.
Frank leaves behind to honor his memory, his loving wife, Mary; sons, Frank Jr., Joe (Janelle), Santino (Shannon), and Lance; grandchildren, Caleb, Dylan, Mallory, Alyssa, Quentin, Vincent, Augustino, and Landon Lee; sisters, Diana Murray and Antonia Valadez; and a host of extended familia and beloved friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Lola and Danny.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Road. Burial will follow the mass at Glendale Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a Vigil Service to begin at 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 19, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.

I am so sorry to hear of Frank's passing. I have known Frank for many years and attended school with him. I can remember the fun times during our school years and the times when he and his friends, were up to their tricks, which sometimes didn't go over as well as they hoped.
Frank will be missed by all. He was a very good person and has left lasting memories with so many friends.
May his wife and children find peace within their hearts and find strength in God.
May he rest in peace and perpetual light always shine upon him.
