Georgia B. Clardy
November 11, 2013
Georgia B. Clardy, 80, passed away Monday, November 11, 2013. She was born March 11, 1933, in Porterville, Mississippi, the daughter of the late George and Mary Presswood. Georgia confessed to Christ at an early age. She spent most of her life in the Des Moines area and was employed by the Taylon Nursing Home. She was a member of the Morning Star Church for many years and later joined Pilgrim Baptist Church until her health failed. Georgia would tell it like it is and it didn’t matter whose toes she stepped on.
She is survived by her son Lewis Child (Winnie), three grandchildren, siblings: twin brother, Rev. Joseph Presswood (Callie), Hannah Bell, S.C. Dennis, Carrie Dubose, Callie Jackson, Annie Laura Porter and Mary Clark, a host of nieces and nephews, and close friend, Elmer.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers, three sisters, and her husband, Clarence.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 18, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines, with visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing."
We the pastor and members at Greater Life Missionary Baptist Church, wish to express our sympathy in the loss on this side of Mother Georgia Clardy, yet celebrate the victory through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
May the Lord comfort you during this time of transition.

"I go to prepare a place for you, I will come againthat where I am, there ye may
be also. John 14:3
To all of our extended church family we share in the deepest sympathy in the passing of your loved one, Ms. Georgia B. Clardy and are with you in spirit and prayer. Life is but a stopping place, a pause in whats to be, a resting place along the road to sweet eternity. We all have different journeys, different paths along the way. We all were meant to learn some things, but never meant to stay. Our destination is a place far greater than we know. For some the journeys quicker, for some, the journeys slow. And when the journey finally ends, well claim a great reward & find an everlasting peace, together with the Lord. Trusting that God will be especially close to you all in these hours of need.
Humbly submitted,
Mrs. Laura Thomas, Lori Thomas, Antoine Williams, LeAsia & Lauryn Williams-Des Moines, Ia.
We love you all. May God bless and Keep you Always.
