Roland Speck

Roland Kenneth Speck, 70, passed away after a long and valiant battle with cancer on Sunday, November 10, 2013. Rollie was born August 11, 1943 in Inglewood, California to Ernest and Lorene Speck. After working at Firestone Tire, Rollie operated a dog training and boarding kennel, later retiring to focus on family. Rollie spent many years actively competing in and judging AKC dog shows. In recent years Rollie enjoyed riding and caring for the family’s horses, and spending time with family.

Rollie is survived by his wife Pam; their three young daughters, Alyssa, Chloe and Vivian; daughter, Lori (Mike) Donahue; son, Robert (Tammy) Speck; brother, Gary (Ann) Speck; and grandchildren: Spencer, Sheridan, Robert, Cody, Jonathon, Kieley, and Kenneth. Rollie is preceded in death by his parents; brother Bill; and grandson Cassidy.

Services will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St in Des Moines, IA. Visitation will be Thursday, November 14th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. The memorial service will be Friday, November 15th at 2:30. Light refreshments will be served following the service. Donations can be left to the discretion of the family.
