Sondra Sue Sullivan, 77, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center with her loving family by her side.
Sondra was born April 24, 1936, in Des Moines. Her parents were Thelma and Stanley Heckman. Sondra graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954. It was during this time that she met her future husband, Jim, with whom in January would celebrate 59 years. She worked for many years as a travel agent and during her career traveled extensively. She so enjoyed her travels all across the United States and also having at least to have stepped foot on all continents except Antarctica. She absolutely loved living in Des Moines and had numerous life long friends whom she adored. She will be greatly missed.
Sondra is survived by her loving husband, Jim, her children, Susan (David) Buckley and Joe (Amy) Sullivan, and numerous loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Service Of Remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa in remembrance of Sondra.

I so sorry to hear about Sondra. My heart goes out to the family. I worked with Sondra in the Travel Industry and also played golf with her in the 80's. She was a wonderful lady. Take to heart Matthew 25:23 "Well done my good and faithful servant...."! Always treasure the memories you have of Sondra. You are in my prayers.

My condolence goes out to the family of Sondra. Was looking forward to seeing her at our coming Lincoln School Reunion next year.
She will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace.

I was so sad to hear of Sondra's passing. I always looked forward to our class reunion and "catching up" w/ Sondra on classmates and happenings I may have missed. You were a light in our midst!!!!

Jim and family. We are so sorry to hear of Sondra's death. We wish we could've seen you all more often. We didn't know she had been sick. You two were the best neighbors we ever had. You were both special. We had some great visits even after we moved away. We think of you often. Jim you and your family will be in our prayers.
