Ted Olson

Ted Olson, 82, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2013, at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. He was born September 22, 1930, in Altoona, to Trygve and Edna (Stevens) Olson. Ted married Beverly Murrow in 1951 at Mitchellville Christian Church.

A celebration of life service will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, November 16, 2013 with a time of sharing at 2 p.m. all at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines.

Ted played football in the Navy from where he received an honorable discharge. Later, he owned various milk routes before becoming a partner in V & O construction. In 1973, he moved to Des Moines and was a construction supervisor for several companies over the years. Ted thoroughly enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family.

Ted is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Beverly Olson; children, Kim (Beth) Olson and Lori (Myron) Anderson; grandchildren, Shon (Crystal), Jason (Amber) and Ryan (Robyn) Olson, Shannon and Kelsi Anderson; great-grandchildren, Justin and Harrison Olson and William Olson; siblings, Roger (Jo), Don (Pauline) and Dick; and many extended relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to their very caring neighbors; the family of Earl Hledik and Bob Mays.
